Abstract. Methyl methacrylate has been dimerized to a mixture of 2.5-di (methoxycarbony1)- hex-1-ene (1) and (E)-2. b-di (rnethoxycarbonyl)-hex-2-ene (2) by catalytic systems containing dichlorobis (nitrile)-palladium (I1) complexes and silver tctrafluoroborate.
