Abstract

The 3-and 5-hydroxy-derivatives of 1-and 2-aminoadamantane and their derivatives have previously been obtained by treatment with a mixture of nitric and sulfuric acids [6]. It was shown that hydroxylation also occurred smoothly and cleanly when the amino-group in the l- position was separated from the ring by a hydrocarbon chain A, the aminoalkyladamantane hydrochlorides (Ia-f) affording 71-85% yields of the hydroxylated compounds 3-amino-, 3- ...
