Abstract

In contradiction of a report by Fieser and Dominguez, Corey2 has presented evidence that 2- bromocholestanone is the 2a-bromo epimer since on reduction it yields a bromohydrin that on hydrogenation gives cholestanol and on treatment with base gives 2P, 3P- oxidocholestane.
