Abstract: Exchange etherification of dicarbonylcyclopentadienyl (q2-ethyl vinyl ether) iron tetrafluoroborate (4) with optically active primary and secondary alcohols yields a mixture of diastereomeric cations. These isomers are in rapid equilibrium at room temperature.
