Abstract

Trifluralin (I, a, a, a-trifluoroS, 6-dinitro-N, N-dipropyl-p-toluidine) is a fluorinated herbicide heavily used (> 1.4 rtion million pounds in 1991) in California to control a variety of grasses and broadleaf weeds. It is known to be photodegraded rapidly to a number of products in water (Leitis and Crosby, 1974) and air (Soderquist et al., 1975).
