Abstract: Reaction of a variety of (chloromethy1) vinylsilanes and AlCl, affords cyclopropylchlorosilane products. These reactions are most economically viewed as proceeding via@ closure of the initially formed carbocation to produce silacyclopropylcarbinyl cations which either rearrange to cyclopropylsilylenium ions or can be quenched directly by chloride to yield allylic chlorosilanes.
