Abstract Salts of 1-hydroxy-alkane 1, 1-bis phosphonic acids have been prepared by oxidation of 1-oxo-alkane phosphinic acids. The compounds where characterized by analysis, X-ray diffraction, and chromatography. In addition, dissociation constants of the free 1-hydroxy ethyl-, propyl-, and butyl-1, 1-bis phosphonic acids were determined.
