Abstract

Twelve para-substituted benzylideneanilines selected according to the optimality criteria of experimental matrices were prepared in order to study the influence of the substituents on the cycloaddition rate with benzonitrile oxide. The results obtained indicate that the cycloaddition is a concerted process with a high degree of synchrony.
