Abstract

IN a search1 for practical syntheses of musk-like compounds, we have developed new routes for the syntheses of exaltolide, exaltone, and dihydrocivetone. Both our starting materials, erucyl alcohol 233 and kamlolenic acid,* are readily available; the former was
