Abstract

Both p-(trifluoromethoxy) valerophenone (l-OCF3) and p-(trifluorothiomethoxy)-y- methylvalerophenone (2-SCF3) were prepared by addition of the appropriate alkylmagnesium bromide to the aromatic nitrile. Figure 1 shows the phosphorescence spectra of both ketones at 77 K in hydrocarbon glasses.
