Fluorinated a-pyrones 6 have been prepared from perfluoroacryloyl fluorides 1 and 2 by reaction with arylacetylenes and/or methyl ketones. Cyclobutenecarboxylates 8 have also been obtained from the reactions of 1 with acetylenes. The NMR spectrum of pyrone 6e shows unusually long-range fluorine-fluorine coupling.
