The infrared spectra of gaseous CF 3 PH 2 treated with KOH have been measured in the 2500–400 cm− 1 region by a Fourier transform spectrometer. Most of the bands newly observed on the KOH treatment have been assigned to the vibrations of unstable species, C- fluorophosphaethyne FC≡ P and C-difluorophosphaethene CF 2= PH.
