Abstract

The first approach for the synthesis of 2-alkylthio-4, 5-disubstituted-1, 3-selenazole cores via metallation of dimethyl N-(ethoxycarbonylmethyl) iminodithiocarbonate (EMIC) and subsequent reaction with selenothioic acid S-ester is described. These selenazoles are easily converted into electron rich olefins such as diselenadiazafulvalenes (DSeDAF) and azino-DSeDAF.
