Conclusions. Oxides of the hydrocarbons can be dehydrated to the hydrocarbons of the butadiene series, at temperatures above 350' and in presence of catalysts. The use of reduced pressures in these reactions is absolutely necessary; otherwise, the butadiene hydrocarbon suffers partial decomposition, giving rise, among other products, to hydrocarbons with one double bond.
