Abstract

The syntheses of several oxygen (0) substituted alkyl derivatives of hydroxyguanidine and hydroxybiguanide which are of biological interest are described. These compounds were prepared from the corresponding a-alkylhydroxylamines using methylisothiourea sulfate to introduce the guanidine group and cyanoguanidine with cupric sulfate to produce the biguanides.
