J to the O= C--N i plane. The NMR data for a solution in methylene chloride indicate that compound I is present as a mixture of the cis-and trans-conformers, the ratio of which depends on the concentration and the estimated height of the barrier to rotation about the NC (= O) bond has the values 13.0 and 12.7 kcal/mole for the cis-and trans-forms respectively.
