Abstract

(4-Nitrophenoxy) ethylene oxide (la)(2-chloro-4-nitrophenoxy) ethylene oxide (lb), and (Cphenylphenoxy) ethylene oxide (IC) were synthesized. Rates of acid-catalyzed, noncatalyzed, and hydroxide ion-catalyzed reactions for la and lb and rates of acid- catalyzed and noncatalyzed hydrolysis of IC were measured in 0.1 M NaClOr solutions.
