Abstract

Alkyl ethers are commonly obtained by the Williamson reaction between an alcohol and a haloalkane in the presence of a base. In addition to often rather limited selectivity, limitations arise from the formation of stoichiometric amounts of salts and both more efficient and atom- economical processes are thus needed.
