Abstract

The reactions of I with alcohols constitute additional support for the AAL~ me~ hanisrn.~ A solution of I in ethanol can be shown by VPC to be stable with time at room temperature. If 1 drop of concentrated hydrochloric acid is added, the peak due to I disappears almost immediately, and a new peak, later identified as being due to N-ethoxymethyl-N- methylformamide
