Abstract Perfluoro-n-octanonitrile was found to react with aniline both in the absence and presence of solvents. A spectrum of products was formed including tris (perfluoro-n-heptyl)-s- triazine, N-phenyl-perfluoro-n-octylamidine, and N′-(perfluoro-n-octylimidoyl)-N-phenyl- perfluoro-n-octylamidine, as well as the diphenyl analogues of the last two compounds. The reaction mechanisms, infrared and mass spectra are discussed
