Abstract

The pamamycins (1) are a class of 16-membered macrodiolide homologues that have been isolated from various Streptomyces species (Table 1).[1, 2] Besides displaying pronounced autoregulatory, anionophoric, and antifungal activities, several members of this family have been shown to be highly active against Gram-positive bacteria including multiple antibiotic- resistant strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis.[1a, 3] We have recently accomplished a ...
