Abstract: Alkylation of a-allylpalladium complexes requires a" soft" nucleophile. Successful alkylating agents include the anions derived from malonate,@-keto sulfones,@-keto sulfoxides, and 6-keto sulfides. The regioselectivity as a function of nucleophile is considered.
