Abstract

Alcoholysis of Ethyl Acetoacetate.-In a one-liter, 3- necked flask bearing a thermometer, mercury seal stirrer and reflux condenser, were placed 68 g. (1 mole) of sodium ethoxide, 352 g. (4 moles) of ethyl acetate and 46 g. (1 mole) of ethyl alcohol and finally 130 g. (1 mole) of ethyl acetoacetate, added in small portions through the reflux condenser.
