Abstract: The rate constants for solvolysis of tert-butylethylmethylsulfonium perchlorate and bromide have been measured in ethanol, acetic acid, and 50Z acetic acid-acetic anhydride. The sulfonium bromide reacts ca. 20Z more rapidly than the perchlorate.
