Sulfenamides are synthesised from reaction between amines and N-(benzenesulfenyl)-phthalimide or benzenesulfenyl chloride. The sulfenamides undergo reaction with tributyltin hydride to yield aminyl radicals which can be cyclised onto suitable alkenes.
