Abstract

Results Kinetics. As expected, the decomposition of cyclobutanecarbonyl m-chlorobenzoyl peroxide (1) on silica is very fast. The first-order rate constant (Table I) for the reaction at 26 OC, on silica without solvent or in a CC14 silica slurry, is of the order of sl, while the rates in CHC13 or CC14 solution are an order of magnitude lower even at 55" C, a much higher temperature.
