Mp 47–48°C; δ H 1.26–1.59 (6H, m, 3 × CH 2 ), 1.72–1.81 (2H, m, CH 2 ), 2.36 (2H, t, J 7 Hz, CH 2 C), 3.88 (2H, t, J 6 Hz, OCH 2 ), 5.78 (1H, s, CCHH), 6.26 (1H, s, CCHH), 6.80 (2H, d, J 9 Hz, H-2 and H-6) and 7.24 (2H, d, J 9 Hz, H-3 and H-5); ν max 1 759 and 1 595 cm −1 ; m/z 300 (M + ) and 128 (base peak, C 6 H 4 ClO) [Found: C, 60.1; H, 6.05.
