Abstract We describe a chemo-enzymatic synthesis of modified nucleosides through lipase- catalyzed hydrolysis of their peracetylated precursors. It was found from screening of a large number of substrates that these enzymes' regioselectivities were affected by the sugar and the nucleobase structures.
