Abstract

NH-CCHzCOO tion was odd, it was not new. Muller* condensed ethyl oxaloacetate with methylurea and obtained 3-methyluracil-4-ethylcarboxylate. When the sodium salt of this substance was treated with hydrochloric acid a 0-methylcarbamidoacrylic acid,-H, NCON (CHJCH= CHCOOH, was obtained. Neither acids nor alkali converted this substance into 3- methyluracil.
