2-Alkoxy-5-amino-1, 3, 4-thiadiazoles are obtained by the action of cyanogen halides on alkoxythiocarbonylhydrazines, or by reaction of thiosemicarbazides with dialkoxymethylenimines. The latter process may also give 5-amino-or 5-alkoxy-1, 2, 4- triazole-3-thiols.
